We're asking our prospective parliamentary candidates three vital questions about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Below you can read each question and why we're asking it. Fill in your details underneath to email your candidates. We've written a model email for you, which you can access on the next page, but please feel free to personalise it as you see fit! There will also be the opportunity to let your candidates know about our open statement on the 50th anniversary of the 6 Day War. If you haven't signed the statement, you can do so here.

We would like to publish the candidates' responses on our website, so please forward any replies you receive to info@yachad.org.uk.

The Questions

The need for a political resolution

This June – the week of the General Election – marks 50 years since the 6 Day War. Since then, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has raged on, claiming thousands of lives to war and terrorism, while Israel’s temporary occupation of the West Bank has lasted for five decades. According to the latest research, 71% of British Jews believe that the two-state solution is ‘the only way’ Israel will reach peace.

  • Do you agree that there is a pressing need for a political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
The UK government's role

For years UK government policy has been to support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With the next Parliament expected to oversee the UK’s exit from the European Union, the UK now has the opportunity to develop its own unique approach to achieving two states for two peoples.

  • What can the UK do over the next 5 years to promote a political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?

What will you do in Parliament?

In recent years, Parliament has become a battleground, with MPs who see themselves as supporters of Israel and MPs who see themselves as supporters of Palestine competing to host and respond to debates, Early Day Motions, and Parliamentary questions.

  • What will you do to help overcome pro-Israel/pro-Palestinian battles in Parliament and promote a political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict?
