The UK must take action today to demand an urgent ceasfire alongside immediate concrete actions to end the occupation by recognising Palestine.

Israelis and Palestinians deserve peace, they deserve equality and they deserve justice. The occupation has to end.

I am writing to you as a British Jewish supporter of Israel, watching events unfold in Israel and Gaza with grave concern. A ceasefire has been agreed, but there is so much more to be done.

The British government has stated that it supports a two-state solution, but statements and empty promises aren’t enough.

Israelis and Palestinians deserve peace, they deserve equality and they deserve justice. The occupation has to end. The status quo is not sustainable. It has already cost too many lives. It is the status quo that has led us to where we are today.

I ask you to commit to the following actions:

1.	Put ending the occupation on the agenda immediately as a way of bringing back a meaningful internationally brokered peace process. The UK can lead the international community in this endeavour by recognising Palestine so there are two entities at the table.

2.	Support efforts within Israel and Palestine by organisations and politicians who are leading the charge to stop the breakdown of relationships between Jewish and Palestinian citizens within Israel and Israelis and Palestinians over the Green Line. This should not be done instead of political action to end the occupation, but in addition to it.

As my MP, I am asking you to commit to these, publicly, and to demonstrate your commitment to peace by writing to the Foreign Minister, Dominic Raab, and the Middle East Minister, James Cleverly – to demand that the British government endorse and commit to these actions as a matter of extreme urgency.
